customer service, English, excellent waiter, restaurant

A way to impress customers

It’s always exciting trying a new restaurant, especially if you’ve heard so much good things about the place before, just like Euro Deli. It’s a Swiss-German restaurant in Damansara Kim, Petaling Jaya area in Kuala Lumpur which was founded in 1997.
We visited the place recently during our KL trip. There were six of us, six hungry stomachs for some good ol’ pork chops and ribs (note: this is a non-halal restaurant). As soon as we got the menu, each of us studied the menu diligently.
Soon enough, the waiter (by the name of Peter) came to take our order. After the third order, I noticed that he wasn’t writing down our order. Me, being paranoid, asked him “aren’t you going to write down the order?” He gave me a smile and said “no mam, I remember it”. I thought ok, this is different.
When everyone’s done with the order, Peter asked if he could repeat the order. Here we go, I thought. Let see if you he gets it all right. Note that some of us ordered an appetizer with a main course and whilst the rest only ordered a main course. When it came for him to repeat our order, not only he got it all right, he repeated the order perfectly for each person. He managed to remember all the 18 items we ordered.
After waitinh for a reasonable amount of time, the food arrived and it was exactly what we ordered. We were impressed and even more impressed that the food was delicious.
Peter showed us a way to impress customers. As a waiter, he did it superbly. By remembering our food order, he showed that he really takes his job seriously. That’s an outstanding customer service. We’ll certainly be back not just for the food but for the service.
